The below is archived Information from when the Free Store first opened:
Our new free store encompassing rooms downstairs and being supported by the 10-church coalition is on target to open April 1. A seed grant for $1000. 00 was submitted and while we await that money, we need to start the process. Ronicesha -Giant Killer Nation – is the lead in this Risk-Taking Mission with co-team members of Amanda Smith, Regina Scales, Pastor Chris, Jo Bartimus, Sue Stuber, and leader of the Risk-Taking Missions, Pat Smith as consulting advisor. There are so many details to share, but this will be just a few pertinent ones at this time. If you prefer more details, please see one of the team members.
Currently we need shelving for both the miscellaneous area (clothes, games, household items, etc., as well as the food section. Racks for hanging clothing and bins are welcome as well. The location of the drop offs will be at the top of the steps on the north side of the building and some young, strong team members/youth will carry it to the downstairs rooms. If you have or know of any shelving or any of the items, please let us know plus start bringing in items for everything. Please spread the word among your neighbors and friends of the drop off location and our store. We are placing 2 bins at the top of the stairs. It is all free, but donations will be accepted. We will need lots of plastic/paper bags for them to shop as well.
We have the logistics for record-keeping in place as well as the times for the store to open which are: Monday -6:30-8:30 PM (Boy Scouts and AA are here); Wednesday- 6:30-8:30 PM (Lucas Life Group and Cub Scouts are here); Thursday 9-11 AM for anyone who can’t come in the evening plus Sunday from 9:30-10:30 which can get people -have some snacks, coffee and water and then hopefully come into services. We do need volunteers for those times so we can rotate monthly. Some from other congregations will also be assisting. There is a sign-up sheet in the Welcome Center for your short time commitment to this outreach.
HOPE BAGS will continue to be filled and delivered as needed, but maybe a smaller amount since people can now come and fill their own on these days.
This is a huge undertaking, but as we know, unless we step out in faith that God will show us the way and help us, where is our faith in Him? Never undertake something knowing you can achieve it on your own!!! God is in every detail and wants us to trust Him.
